New compilation out on Spliff Music...

Spliff Music in Israel keeps pushing out full on compilations. Their latest one is a compilation called New Religion, compiled by DJ Osho.

New Religion (Spliff Music) 2005 (SP1CD007)

1. Elec3 – Define Yourself
2. Safi Connection – Love Song
3. Liquid Phase – Don’t Know Me
4. Tox – Pooah
5. Alternative Control – Our Reality
6. X.S.I. – One Day
7. Jirah – Flow
8. Freakulizer – New Concept Of Reality
9. Goma – Karmel
10. S.B.S. – Lia Space

Elec3 (Magitman Igal & Brisker Roman) from Israel is first out. They have previously released tracks on various compilations, on labels such as Medium, Turbo Trance, Magma and PsyTropic Records. Here they give is a quite beautiful morning trance track. Very melodic and floating. You also get a lot of female vocals in there, which make it sound quite commercial and clubby. The beat in this one is really massive. I guess this is the kind of trance that rocks at sunrise in Israeli desert parties these days. Track 2 is by label owner Safi Connection (Mishel Bitton) who also has released his fourth album (Figga Nigga) on Spliff Music this winter. The track we get here is not on the album, but goes the same clubby direction. Easy digestible melody and some vocals. Track 3 goes a little bit better. This one is by Liquid Phase (Yaniv Bar-Or) who has released tracks on other Spliff compilations too. Here we get quite a lot of variation. We also get some guitar sounds in there, that becomes a little bit annoying for my taste, but I’m sure this track can make some real fun on the dancefloor, especially with those crazy melodies you get here. Track 4 is by Tox (Tom Shoval & Orel Shapira), who also has released tracks on a couple of Spliff compilations. This one starts really good for the first minutes. We get some bubbling sounds, less cheese and better melodies. Quite massive track, with a little bit darker vibe. Then suddenly jumps in some really ugly guitar sounds that totally ruins the track for me. I am just so unbelievable tired of guitar sounds like this in trance! Track 5 is by Alternative Control (Rastko Palikuca & Goran Toprek). A full on duo who has released tracks on labels such as Oxygen, Pukka Music, Sphere and Soular Records. They give us a very typical modern full on track. For sure clubby vibes, but not as much cheese as you normally find in Israeli full on trance these days. Luckily, there are no terrible guitar sounds in there...

Track 6 is by a group called X.S.I. This is a quite fresh group, who has released a couple of tracks on Spliff and MP Records. This is definately my favourite track on this compilation. It starts really nice, with a floating vibe and a beautiful voice. Then we get a really massive, full on bass line. Nice one! Then we get a track by Jirah (Tim McCall) who has released a pretty strong album (Outer Access) on USTA in 2003. Here he gives us another massive, full on track. Pretty good, with some intense melodies and drifting vibes. Another favourite on this compilation. Track 8 is by a guy called Freakulizer (Simon Schwendeener) from Switzerland, also known as Thujon. This one continues the massive, full on drift. Not among the worst tracks on this compilation. Nice to hear something that doesn’t sound as clubby as most other full on releases these days. Track 9 is by a fresh artist called Goma (Renato Schnyder). Here we jump back to a more clubby soundscape again. Light, fluffy, morning melodies above a full on bass line. The last track DJ Osho serves us, is by another fresh act called S.B.S. (Sharon Ben Shushan). This one has a very typical Israeli, full on style. The track is quite intense, with some pretty fluffy melodies. With other words, it sounds just like most other melodic full on tracks coming out of Israel these days.

On this compilation you get pure, melodic, full on trance all the way through. Some of these tracks doesn’t sound very interesting in my ears, but there are a couple of strong tracks in there too. So if you are into this modern, melodic trance these days, you might check this out.
