Sub6 give us a taste of their sound on a CD single on Hommega Productions...

Sub6 (Ohad Aharoni and Golan Aharoni) is an upcoming star in the Israeli trance scene these days. They are brothers and will release their debut album soon called Who Needs Love Songs, and will perform live a lot all over the world this summer. Here they are out with a taste of their sound with a CD single. Michele Adamson is a “psychedelic singer” who is most famous for her singing in Shpongle. Here Sub6 has collaborated with Michele and made a trance track with vocals called Ra He’Ya. Four different artists have remixed it.

Sub6 feat. Michele Adamson "Ra He’Ya" Hommega Productions 2004 (HMCDS3)

1. Ra He’Ya (Original Version)
2. Ra He’Ya (Psy Sex Remix)
3. Ra He’Ya (Juvenile Remix)
4. Ra He’Ya (J. Viewz Remix)
5. Ra He’Ya (Shulman Remix)

First out is the original version by Sub6 and Michele. This is a heavy, full on, pumping track. The bass line is really groovy and a few psychedelic sounds are jumping in there now and then. Then comes the vocals by Michele Adamson, but it is not easy to hear her beautiful voice. They have twisted her voice quite a lot and there isn’t much singing at all. Track 2 is a remix done by Psy Sex (Udi Sternberg). He gives us a pumping full on version of this track. A bit more rough sound and he has used the vocals on different places. Track 3 is a remix done by Juvenile (Shanti Matkin) who released his debut album (A Machine’s Dream) on Vision Quest in Japan last year. He is the little brother of one of the guys in GMS. His style is also very like the GMS. Here he gives us this style. Heavy rolling track, but with sort of a progressive touch I haven’t heard from him before.

Track 4 is remixed by J. Viewz (Jonathan Dagan), who is one half of Violet Vision. This is one of the best versions of this track in my opinion. He gives us some sort of break beat version in the beginning. I also think the vocals fit better into this track. After a while, we get a housy rhythm drift. Very funky sounds and pretty experimental. The last version we get here is definitely the best one. It is made by Shulman (Yaniv Shulman) who has released two wonderful psychedelic chill out albums. This version is a chilled, deep, dubby track. Echo effects, deep bass, and sort of shpongled sound picture. A chilled track, with beautiful melodies.

This track sounds interesting and a little bit different from the usual full on sound around these days. Personally I wasn’t too impressed by the original version here, but it shows that Sub6 tries out new directions, so their debut album could be interesting. We will see.
