Violet Vision releases their second album, this time more experimental than ever...

After the surprisingly good experimental debut album First Sign Of Communication (Yo Yo Records 2001) by Violet Vision (Jonathan Dagan and Shay Raviv) from Israel, I have been looking forward to more interesting music from them. Now they are finally out with their second album, this time more experimental than ever!

This time you get a fat booklet full of cool art and the text of the songs in this album. The first track is a heavy break beat track you also find on their cd single Your Voice, in two different versions. Here we get the original version. Break beats that reminds me a bit of Eat Static when they experiment with that kind of music. But, here you also get a lot of female vocals. A pure pop track if you look away from the break beats. Track 2 is a relaxing track with some chilled piano and some weird sounds. A short track lasting for just a couple of minutes. Track 3 is a new break beat track, with some beautiful female voice above. Pretty heavy beats, and suddenly you get some noisy singing by one of the Violet Vision guys. Totally experimental, with some floating relaxed parts in between. This is pop/break beat music. I think the vocals here is a bit disturbing. Track 4 goes back to a more relaxed vibe. You get the vocals here too, but it isn’t that annoying. A relaxed pop track with other words.
Track 5 is darker, still with experimental break beats. The vocals in this one reminds me a bit of heavy rock. In my opinion the vocals is a bit too much here too. Track 6 is a big beat track with some really annoying vocals. Why make something like that when they made so much beautiful music in their first album? Track 7 sounds like some kind of house track. In my ears this sounds like a bad vocal house track. Just annoying. Track 8 starts with the piano again, together with some weird and scary sounds. After a while a girl starts singing. This is actually pretty beautiful and relaxing. This girls singing reminds me a bit of Björk. Track 9 has those cool break beats again and some really weird vocals. Pretty funny music, but probably too weird and experimental for most people. Track 10 is a total relaxing, almost sad little track lasting for just a couple of minutes. Violet Vision finishes this album with a heavy big beat/pop track. This sounds almost disgusting in my ears, but I’m sure there is someone out there who likes pop music and will enjoy this.
This album is totally different from their first album. These guys sure likes to experiment with different kinds of music. This time I don’t think the album is exactly meant for trance people, but who knows, maybe some people get converted by this?

This album appeals highly to those who like the second disk of Infected Mushroom's Converting Vegetarians. I guess if you bought this looking for trance you might be disappointed. On the other hand, if you're a fan of glitchy synth-pop mixed with breakbeat, it'll be your favorite. I absolutely love it, and I can't wait to hear more by them.
